Discussion Multiple RegressionAs with the previous week’s

Discussion: Multiple RegressionAs with the previous week’s Discussion, this Discussion assists in solidifying your understanding of statistical testing by engaging in some data analysis. This week you will once again work with a real, secondary dataset to construct a research question, estimate a multiple regression model, and interpret the results.Whether in a scholarly or practitioner setting, good research and data analysis should have the benefit of peer feedback. For this Discussion, you will post your response to the hypothesis test, along with the results. Be sure and remember that the goal is to obtain constructive feedback to improve the research and its interpretation, so please view this as an opportunity to learn from one another. To prepare for this Discussion:Review this week’s Learning Resources and media program related to multiple regression.Create a research question using the General Social Survey that can be answered by multiple regression.By Day 3Use SPSS to answer the research question. Post your response to the following:What is your research question? What is the null hypothesis for your question? What research design would align with this question? What dependent variable was used and how is it measured? What independent variable is used and how is it measured? What other variables were added to the multiple regression models as controls? What is the justification for adding the variables? If you found significance, what is the strength of the effect?Explain your results for a lay audience, explain what the answer to your research question.Be sure to support your Main Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.By Day 5Respond to at least one of your colleagues’ posts and comment on the following:Do you think the variables are appropriately used? Why or why not?Does the addition of the control variables make sense to you? Why or why not?Does the analysis answer the research question? Be sure and provide constructive and helpful comments for possible improvement. If there was a significant effect, comments on the strength and its meaningfulness. As a lay reader, were you able to understand the results and their implications? Why or why not?Assignment 1: Testing for Multiple RegressionYou had the chance earlier in the week to practice with multiple regression and obtain peer feedback. Now, it is time once again to put all of that good practice to use and answer a social research question with multiple regression. As you begin the Assignment, be sure and pay close attention to the assumptions of the test. Specifically, make sure the variables are metric level variables. This Assignment includes two parts, Part 1 and Part 2. For this Assignment, you will complete Part 1where you will create a research question that can be answered using with multiple regression analysis.Part 1To prepare for this Part 1 of your Assignment:Review this week’s Learning Resources and media program related to multiple regression.Using the SPSS software, open the Afrobarometer dataset or the High School Longitudinal Study dataset (whichever you choose) found in the Learning Resources for this week.Based on the dataset you chose, construct a research question that can be answered with a multiple regression analysis.Once you perform your multiple regression analysis, review Chapter 11 of the Wagner text to understand how to copy and paste your output into your Word document. For this Part 1 Assignment:Write a 1- to 2-page analysis of your multiple regression results for each research question. In your analysis, display the data for the output. Based on your results, provide an explanation of what the implications of social change might be.Use proper APA format, citations, and referencing for your analysis, research question, and display of output. No Assignment submission for this week.By Day 7 of Week 10Submit your final Assignment 1: Testing for Multiple Regression Parts 1 and 2 by Day 7 of Week 10.Assignment 2: Multiple Regression in PracticeFor this Assignment, you will continue your practice as a critical consumer of research. You will critically evaluate a scholarly article related to multiple regression. To prepare for this Assignment:Use the Course Guide and Assignment Help found in this week’s Learning Resources and search for a quantitative article that includes multiple regression testing. For this Assignment:Write a 2- to 3-page critique of the article. In your critique, include responses to the following:Why did the authors use multiple regression?Do you think it’s the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?Did the authors display the data?Do the results stand alone? Why or why not?Use proper APA format, citations, and referencing.By Day 7Submit your Assignment 2: Multiple Regression Practice.Submission and Grading InformationTo submit your completed Assignment for review and grading, do the following:Please save your Assignment using the naming convention “WK9Assgn2+last name+first initial.(extension)” as the name.Click the Week 9 Assignment 2 Rubric to review the Grading Criteria for the Assignment.Click the Week 9 Assignment 2 link.
